We love to hear comments,
both before and
after Guitar-eze!
Here's a sampling of what
we get, all the time
- perhaps one of these
could be you, before
or after Guitar-eze...
"I played guitar for several
hours ...yesterday
and really enjoyed the
versatility that your
system provides. I have
played for over 20
years and started experimenting
with open
tunings in an attempt
to increase the speed
of my lead riffs. Guitar-eze
provides the edge I
am seeking. Your
chord book is excellent as well."
"Thank god I found your
blog. I've been playing around with alternative tunings for about a year now. Playing at home for fun, changing tunings is
no big deal, but on stage its hard to adjust on the fly. Open-D is the easiest and most versatile. The intonation is nice.
You can do lot more percussive work. My hands are small so my work in standard tuning is really limited."
"I saw on the internet
the information
reference your open-D
instructional
material. I have
played guitar, in standard
tuning, for seveal years,
but never really
progressed past the early
intermediate
level. A couple
of years ago I began
playing in open-D, both
slide and
fingerstyle. My progress has been
considerably faster, however
instructional
material in open-D is
hard to come by. I am
looking forward to obtaining
your
instructional material."
"I'm so glad to find someone
else that plays mostly or
exclusively in Open D. I do
as well. I've just never been
able to play well in standard
tuning and I've tried for years.
When I learned open D, it was
like the guitar suddenly
opened up for me. I can
play scales, hammer downs,
all kinds of chords now in
this tuning, but could never
do it well in standard. I think
there are some players who
think alternate tunings are
not a good thing--like it's
cheating or something. But
the bottom line is that it's the
only thing that really works
for me!"
"I've been playing with
the open D tuning and was afraid that all I'd manage to get out if it without instruction was racket. But I quickly see that
was a misconception. It's actually easier to get a good sound from it that it is to get something discordant."
"Thanks for the prompt
delivery of
Guitar-eze course, I
have made
some progress although
it takes
lots of practice. Thanks again for
the chance to play guitar."
"I've devoted my Tele to
this tuning."
"I do love the Open D tuning!
I started out using
Open C and then Open G but Open D is a beautiful sounding key."
"I love the guitar but can not play in standard tuning. I want to play but my fingers will not let
me conform to the fret positions. Open-D tuning has given me more satisfaction than I can mention..."
"I was wondering - can Stairway to Heaven or Sweet Home Alabama be
played easily on Open-D? I've always wanted to play, and your method seems like the ticket."
"I just want to learn some blues songs
primarily, e.g. trying to teach myself some John Lee Hooker, some Muddy licks, shuffle rhythm etc. Have bought a ton
of teach yourself guitar books but can’t seem to make any progress."
"How wonderful to hear from you,
such a personalized response! I will be buying Guitar-eze soon, thanks again."
"I like your sites. Nice reference
sets and very informative."
"I am learning chords but the hardest thing for me is learning the different strums and when
to use them. Barre chords are also difficult for me."
"I received your books. They look like they will be interesting.
I just wanted to mention a couple of Open D chords that I find fun and easy to play which I didn't see in your book. The first one is a Dominant 7 Aug 9.
If the root is 'A' it looks like:
d 10
a 10
F# 7
D 7
A 7
D 7
My son and I call
it the "Jimi Hendrix" chord. You get a "Purple Haze" sound if you play the three low strings as a power chord twice and then
hit all 6 strings for the Jimi chord."
"My problem is this.
I have no
musical background. I mentioned that I do play guitar but that is a bit of an exaggeration. I know how to play a G, D and
A chord but I have a hard time changing chords. In addition, I have no clue or understanding about strumming, so everything
I try to play comes out sounding like the same song."
"If this program actually worked for me, I would be the premiere poster child for the simplicity
of this program."
