Play Better Guitar - Expand Your Horizons
The most adaptable system is Guitar-eze.
If you've already played some guitar... been frustrated... want to play better guitar... want
to play guitar differently... want to be more versatile on guitar... want to play guitar more easily... want to play guitar
by ear... want to play guitar more by "feel"...
Here's where a guitar player can become a better guitar player.
That is - a more versatile guitar player.
Let's face it - every guitar player has changed tunings. Even if it's just drop-D,
or putting on a capo.
What if you could play guitar - really play guitar - for more than just one song or one lick
- in another tuning. You owe it to yourself to try. I've seen the jaws drop when I play. I've watched the
puzzled expressions from the audience. I've seen the raised eyebrows from fellow guitar players. Here's what Wikipedia says about open D tuning, the basis for Guitar-eze.
The comments are always the same -
"what a great sound"
"that's so full sounding"
"you do leads like that?"
"that's a whole new thing"
"wow"
It's all one simple move - to the world of open-tuned guitar. Of course, it's absolutely
perfect for beginning guitar, acoustic or electric.
But it's a whole new world for the guitar player.
Just a few of the benefits of open tuned guitar like Guitar-eze's open-D:
- riffing - like you've never riffed before
- slide guitar - the way it was meant to be played
- harmonic and overtones you never dreamed of
- a low-end crunch like nothing else
- acoustic tone like nothing else
- "ear players" especially love it
- playing by ear is enhanced dramatically
- Guitar-eze open-D opens the door to other interesting tunings
...and on and on. It's as if standard tuning was just the (more difficult)
primer or starting point. Now you can really start to play guitar.
Flipping back and forth is no problem, either. And of course, open tuning is nothing
new. Check any guitar website out there. They all make reference to open tunings. This method just puts
it altogether for a guitarist who wants a different way to play. Players like:
- Keith Richards
- Ry Cooder
- Joni Mitchell
- Elmore James
- Bo Diddley
- Muddy Waters
- Jimmy Page
- Mick Taylor
- Don Everly
- Robert Johnson
- Bonnie Raitt
- John Lee Hooker
...and countless others. So why is open tuning so under-appreciated and under-utilized?
- standard tuning (as the name implies) is the adopted standard
- standard tuning is not the easiest or most versatile tuning
- a simpler guitar method is generally not a good thing for music schools
- standard tuning is great
- open tuning is great too
- add open tuning like Guitar-eze to your guitar arsenal
That's what I suggest on this web site. Especially if progress is slow in standard
tuning. Frustrated guitar player? You owe it to yourself to give Guitar-eze a try.
When you get Guitar-eze, you've got me as often as you need. Help is always just an

Minor Chords in Guitar-eze
Many of you have asked about minor chords in Guitar-eze. Minor chords are easily achieved in Guitar-eze, by augmenting
the simple major chords you start with.
Several versions of minor chords (minor 7 also) are shown in Guitar-eze and
the Guitar-eze Chord Book. The true beauty of Guitar-eze is that the system is so "visible" or logical to the
guitarist while playing, you can "see" what it takes to create the minor from any major chord you happen to be playing.
A simple manipulation and you are there, up and down the fret board. This to me beats the heck out of memorizing umpteen
chord fingerings, and not really knowing why the chord is that chord.
Along with minor chords, you can build any chord
imaginable, starting from the Guitar-eze base - a major open chord.

Special Price to End
I have been offering the Guitar-eze Combo (Guitar-eze, the accompanying CD-ROM and the Guitar-eze Chord Book) lately
for the exceptionally reduced price of $34.95. This means the Chord Book was essentially thrown in free with your purchase.
This was always intended to be for a limited time. I will be raising the price shortly, or starting to charge for
the Chord Book. So I urge you to take advantage of the reduced price of $34.95 while you can. The price could
be changing at any time. It just depends on the scheduling of the site revamp to reflect the new price. Don't
delay.
I re-tuned my National Steel Acoustic guitar to open-D yesterday, for some blues slidin'. Man, did it sound nice.
I had been experimenting in open-F (actually played some open-F guitar on the JumpKatz recording). But now the National's back home in Guitar-eze open-D where it belongs. For acoustic guitar, Guitar-eze
can't be beat. For electric too, come to think of it!
Looking forward to all your questions, comments and orders this weekend. We ship 'em out right away, so you 'll
be strummin' and pickin' in Guitar-eze right quick.

Open-D is the Key for Many to Play Guitar
At its very simplest, an absolute beginner (no matter what age) can get pleasant sounds from their guitar, in Guitar-eze
open-D.
That's because your guitar is tuned to an open, major chord. This means that even with no fingers on
the fret board at all, you can produce a beautiful, full sounding chord right away (something that's impossible to do in standard
guitar tuning).
Think of it - with no fingers at all, you can strum a pleasant chord pattern in D. There are actually
songs that only use one chord! So you could be accompanying yourself to one right away. My very favorite is the shave-and-a-haircut-two-bits
rhythm of "Bo Diddley" - a terrific one-chord song.
Of course, one chord songs are a tad limiting. But the
beauty of Guitar-eze is that you can build new chords so easily. With just one finger on one fret (2nd fret, 2nd high string)
you produce another great chord - a D6. Shift that finger up one more fret on the same string and you have a D7. That's
THREE great guitar chords in one blog entry.
Plus, there are so many more - literally hundreds - more fantastic sounding
chords, easy to learn, in Guitar-eze open-D. Aspiring guitarists owe to themselves to give it a try, if they are looking
for an easier way to play guitar.

Vocalists Who Want to Play Guitar
So many singers want to be able to accompany themselves - for performance, or practice, or for composing. Whatever
the reason, guitar is the perfect instrument for simple vocal accompaniment.
I've spoken with many vocalists, however, who would love to play guitar, but have experienced frustration. The
instrument is too complex a learning curve, for it to be effective. A singer who wants to sing shouldn't have to take
a year to learn an instrument with which to accompany themselves.
This is where Guitar-eze can be a tremendous help. I've smoothed out the learning curve. Vocalists who are
also aspiring guitarists can "get going" on guitar, far more easily. Right away, almost. Guitar-eze is that simple.
With the book and accompanying CD, I will show you all you need to know, to get strumming right away. Plus for a limited
time I am throwing in the Guitar-eze Chord Book (a $9.95 value) FREE with your purchase of Guitar-eze.

Great Jam on Sunday the 23rd
As you may know, my band, the JumpKatz, host an open-stage jam every Sunday at the Oasis Bar in Windsor. This past Sunday was a hot one, with guitar whiz
James Anthony guesting with the Katz. Did he blow the roof it, with sizzling blues, roots and rock and roll all afternoon and into
the evening. James also plays wicked slide and does an acoustic solo thing also, on regular acoustic and dobro.
He regularly holds clinics at music shops.. and did he put one on Sunday at the jam! Highlight - James complimented
MY playing!
Oh yeah, thanks for all the action on the weekend. More and more people are becoming interested and knowledgable
on alternate tunings - and the easiest one of them all - Guitar-eze.

Recent Customer Note
"I played guitar for several hours in Open D yesterday (DADF#AD) and really enjoyed the versatility that your system
provides. I have played for over 20 years and started experimenting with open tunings in an attempt to increase the speed
of my lead riffs. Guitar-eze provides the edge I am seeking. Your chord book is excellent as well."

Thanks
Sandy (whose Guitar-eze CD broke in transit, and will be replaced!). What a nice testimonial!
It's great to see that
both "players" and "beginners" see the value of a versatile guitar tuning alternative.
Please keep
